Description
This is the same technique we use to make many of our silver pieces! Learn to cast pewter in sand molds — you’ll bring something small to replicate (a toy, pendant, or simple ring) and use it to make a two-part mold out of special oil-infused sand, and carve metal flow and air escape paths. We’ll then pour Pewter, a low-melting-temperature metal (so low that we can melt it on a warming plate!), into the mold. Once it cools, we’ll clean up the castings a bit to create a final piece.
Some parts are easier to sand cast than others — after booking the class, feel free to reach out to us with some ideas. Or, bring a couple of things to try out! We’ll have some objects on-hand if you don’t bring anything.
